Prince

Hi!

Just thought I would give you an update on how Prince is doing.  He is such a love!!!!  The first 24 hours were long.  He was mad and crabby and just wanted to lay on the counter in the bathroom.  I was a little leary to even get near him but I knew (from watching him at the shelter) that there was a push over hidden inside his huge body.   He hissed at the dogs and Peanut too.  After awhile he got used to Chewie (a.k.a. Johnny) staring at him all the time and quit the hissing.  The next day he just kept trying to hide behind our coffee pot on the kitchen counter (he is bigger than the coffee pot so it was actually funny to watch).  He would venture out at night when the house started to settle down.  Day 3 he wanted to be petted in the worst way and now he is 100% sure he owns this house.  Very loved and spoiled are the only way to describe his life.  Two of my dogs are deathly afraid of him but Chewie is still enamored by him and will sit and watch him sleep for hours.  My husband John renamed him Notorious F.A.T. and we call him Noto for short.

For some reason I think he was owned by guy because he sure loves John.  As soon as John gets home from work Noto becomes ultra and I mean ULTRA vocal until John rubs him up or picks him up.   Noto and John can carry on long conversations.  It's pretty funny.  His favorite toy is one of my hair scrunchies.  He carries it everywhere and even needs to sleep with it.  He won't fall asleep unless it's near his face.  Weird but whatever makes him happy.

Hope all is well with your wonderful staff!  Please let them know Prince is doing well.

Thank you for everything.  I will email a picture as soon as he cooperates for the camera. That is not high on his list of things to do just yet.

Always,

Suzie, Noto, and Chewie too!

Nitschke

Nitschke is doing well!  We intended to keep his name Nitschke as we figured it had been his since he was born, but he really didn't respond to it all the time so we decided to rename him - Gunnar!  He actually seems to like it and comes when called!  He is adjusting to his new surroundings and routine as well as you could hope for.  He found his spot on the couch right away and really enjoys playing outside with us and our female dog Basil (I am trying to upload a video of them playing tug of war to Facebook https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=600053691878&set=vb.144701598&type=2&theater).  The two of them are doing very well together.  He often initiates play with her and she enjoys it.  We have noticed he needs quite a bit of training in regards to house manners (begging, jumping on you) and we'd like to work with him on sit, stay, etc. it seems that he knows them but on his terms and sometimes has selective hearing :)

Maybe a fun fact for the staff at HSBC - we found out he was likely named after the Green Bay Packer linebacker Ray Nitschke!  His former owner must have been quite the Packer fan.  I was also curious it noted in the adoption listing that he was purebred with papers?  Not that it matters at all, but people have been asking us what he is mixed with because of his enormous head and it would just be interesting to know - is he purebred?

Anyway, we are really happy to have him and feel that he is a perfect fit in our family!  We will continue to post pictures on Facebook and will try to send some as well.  Thank you for him!

Brindle aka Dolly!

We love Dolly.  We renamed her Brindle since my name is Dolly too.  One Dolly is all our house can handle. :-)
She had a urinary tract infection so there were a lot of accidents in the house at first but now she is doing great.  We took her to our vet and he gave her antibiotics which she will finish up today.  Our cat is even starting to warm up to her which I didn't expect so soon.  My daughter posted the above picture on her facebook page.  She was so excited to get the puppy!
Thanks for checking in.
