KERMIT THE DOG/KERMET/KERMIE (SADIE)
We have renamed Sadie- "Kermit the Dog" (Kermit or Kermie for short.)  We brought her to the vet a couple days after bringing her home because she hadn't really eaten, and she was diagnosed with Lyme disease, which is not surprising due to her history. She is on antibiotics to treat it and has since started eating and opening up quite a bit. Hard to say how much of her initial behavior and stress when we brought her home was affected by her not feeling well.  She continues to be a shy but very gentle and loving dog, who is slowly but surely coming out of her shell! Her very favorite thing to do is lay in bed and snuggle mom and dad. She has been the most well behaved dog I've ever met, she's yet to have an accident in the house, get her nose into things she shouldn't, or chew on anything. We've only heard 3 single barks in 3 weeks. She's very smart, she's learned "sit" and "down" easily and started knowing her name after only a few days home.  She still doesn't play yet, although she's given dad 3 play bows so we know she wants to figure it out. She loves going outside at night when it's quiet and calm and has graduated to being in the fenced yard off leash, though still supervised. Late at night when outside, she gets the "zoomies" and runs around the back yard in circles. full of joy, grass and dirt flying behind her. Because of these small glimpses of dog-ness, we know she'll continue to open up and learn how to "dog" properly. But even if she doesn't, we'll love her any way. She's been a fantastic addition to our family, we are so grateful to have found her and can't wait to see how things progress as she gets more and more comfortable.

Thanks for following up!
