Beatrice & Romeo!

Platinum
They are doing wonderful, they absolutely love it here. We did change their names -

Beatrice is now Platinum and Romeo is now Smoke(y). They love to cuddle and it's so
awesome they haven't had a single accident. They really do love it here. Adopting these
babies is by far one of the best decisions we have made.

We are working on the volunteer applications as my boys are soooooo excited to help
out. My little brother wants to as well so when I turn these apps in I'll grab another one to
fill out for him. Now that the holiday season is winding down we will have more time for
other things.

Thanks for checking in. we will talk to you soon and I do have pics!

Sincerely,
Kristina, Rob, Christopher and Jacob

Othello now Grady!

Thanks for checking on Othello, Name changed to Grady.
Yes he is doing wonderful with no problems. He has adjusted to being a new member of our family we love him.  The 2 kittens myself and son  choose from the Rescue Humane Society in Siren are just lovable little kitty's. My family has had many pets over the years and wish they lasted a lifetime. Unfortunate there lives are shorter.
We would like to thank all of you at the Humane Society for all your hard work finding homes for all our animal friends.  Also will recommend anyone looking for a pet to check with you first.

Got my wife to take some pics of Grady when she got home from work.
Hope everyone there enjoys seeing how Grady really has it good in his new home.

Thanks again for what you all do there.

Heather/Maggie Tales!

HSBC Photo
I just have to tell you about my little helper. The other morning I started decorating the Christmas tree. I hung the first ornament (a snowman) fairly low. As I hung the second one, the first started swinging violently back and forth, then flew off the tree. Guess who was hiding underneath. I don't know when I've laughed so hard! The next morning there were fifteen ornaments on the floor. I haven't looked yet today. So if you need help undecorating, I'll send her over.
Merry Christmas!

Flash Update!

Hello & Happy Holidays!
I have been wanting to send you an update on our little buddy since we picked him up this Spring. We are so in love with this little boy...not so little anymore though! I have been meaning to send you pics too, see attached. My other cat Jax was a concern at first because he was feral & territorial, but no need to worry because they are inseparable:) Thank you so much for all that you do for all of these lost babies and making my life more joyful.
Sincerely, Kim

Hilda is doing GREAT!

We have all fallen in love with Hilda. She has settled down and LOVES to go out when we are out and walks so nicely at our left without a leash as we have been training her to heel. She also like to run and play with us and is very affectionate. Our vet has commented how nice she is when we took her and said she would love such a nice dog herself! We have had no trouble with her being aggressive with people. She is definitely a people person. She now loves the snow and has a WONDERFUL thick coat.
Thank you again! Brenda

Cory!

Cory loves the couch!

Cory seems to be doing Great! It took him no time at all to start acting like his normal puppy self! We are still working on all the chewing he LOVES to do! lol He has a vet appointment on Saturday - I think he may have dry skin or something as he sheds white flakes - we may need a special shampoo. He doesn't like showers so well!
He is growing and has learned to climb up and down stairs. His favorite spots are on the steps, under the coffee table and he loved the couch from day one! He often falls asleep on the couch with "dad", William. The boys are getting attached already as well and call Cory their brother - super cute!
We also learned that he doesn't like to potty outside when the ground is wet! That first day it rained all day we had a hard time getting him to stay outside long enough to potty. Other than that he is doing well with potty training. Still needs some help. We are excited for when he doesn't have to sleep in the crate at night. (and when we can sleep through the night without midnight potty breaks) We first have to have him be potty trained and taught not to chew on everything. We bought a spray for the furniture and seems to help but he will also chew on the walls and carpet. He has plenty of toys that we try to swap everytime he is chewing on something he isn't supposed to. Shoes are his favorite, of course.
Loves to snuggle!
He loves his belly rubbed and cuddles and playing outside and running around with the boys. I know he is going to have a lot of fun in the summer running in our back yard and being able to play more outside. He surely doesn't wander too far and keeps close to us. We just take it as a sign that he is loving us as much as we love him!

Ceasar!

Ceasar is settling in well. We did have to take him to the vets because he had a big rash the first few days he was here. Ended up getting steriods and antibiotcs for him. The rash is clearing up nicely. Added a few pictures of the already spoiled boy:-).

Thanks Ben and Dede.

Megan!

A very happy tail is that Mom is in love with Megan.  In her words "I love that cat!"  She is so sweet. She minds very well.   She is quick to learn what the boundaries are.  With just a simple no when she goes somewhere she's not suppose to .

She will take long naps in unusual places like the laundry basket, but also loves her new blanket in the wicker basket.  She is getting less timid to noises and especially likes her Whiskas treats.  Very spoiled, but also affectionate.  Mom holds her wrapped in a receiving blanket in her lap.  Megan purrs like crazy whenever mom pets her...  Even though we felt bad about exchanging Whiskey for Megan it definitely was the right decision!!!

Thank you again for your understanding and recommendation of Megan.  It's a PURRFECT match!!

Kendra Jo!

HI and thank you for your email.  Kendra is doing very well and has settled a lot quicker than expected.  She plays and purrs and snuggles and is really a good kitten.  We are up at our cabin this weekend and she took the road trip very well and adjusted to the cabin in a few minutes.  She is a joy and I am glad we chose her.  Thank you for all you do for the animals.  It means a lot to me that somebody cares for those who can’t care for themselves.  All of our animals have always had middle names and it didn’t come to me what that should be until I received your email and I knew Jo would be it.  Thanks again.  Velvet and Bob

Konrad!

He's doing great! He is certainly loving his new home! He goes for at least 1 walk a day (sometimes two!) and is really settling in well. He's just started learning that all his toys are his, he got a new bone this week that he loves, and he has no problem stealing my side of the bed, haha. He's only had two instances of naughty behavior, but he's a quick learner, and is learning his rules. My parents have already fallen in love with him and taken on the task of being his "Puppy-grandparents" which apparently means they have express rights to spoil him. He really is a sweet boy and we love him to distraction! I do have a few photos, and one really cute video for you!

Here is the link to the video (on facebook) https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10202559322650465&notif_t=like

and the photo's will be attached!

Thanks!

Christina now Hazel!

Hello- It's me.....Hazel! You'll remember me as Christina. I just wanted to let you know that I am doing very well and love my new home. My new mom and dad love me immensely! We do lots of fun things together; car rides, long walks in the woods, play ball, play with other dogs, go to work, snuggle on the bed, etc. I have lots of toys and a big fenced in back yard to run around. I love it! I am now 15 1/2 weeks old and I weigh approx. 27 pounds. They say that I'll grow into my paws and long legs some day. I am doing very well with training. I learned to go potty outside almost immediately. I also learned crate training quickly.
Mom keeps teaching me new tricks and I know how to sit, shake both paws and lay down. I also have this cool treat machine...the arm is a bone shape ...when I hit it, treats come out! It's super fun and I love it! I am doing very well with leash training, too. Mom hopes to make me her running partner in the spring. We all wanted to thank you for finding me a new and loving home. I have adjusted really well and am very happy. I've attached a recent photo. I'm pretty cute, huh??
Love, Hazel

Kali now Pyewacket!

Kali, now Pyewacket, is doing splendidly. She is such a sweetheart and I feel so lucky that I got to take her home.

Heather now Maggie!

HSBC Photo
She is doing great! She's helping me read e-mails. Heather is going to be Maggie. I liked Mazie a little better, but Mark then pronounced it Macy, and we know some girls w/that name. I tried to stay away from names of people I know.
Anyway, she's adorable. The first day was a non-stop petting marathon. We were threatening to name her Velcro!
A long time ago, I said that IF I ever got one more cat, I'd choose a Maine Coon cat, and I'm sure that is what she is. She fits the description to a t--large, long fur, bushy tail, green eyes and her coloring and personality.
The claws may be a problem. She prefers the furniture to the scratching pad. She shares our bed at night, which is fun. I hope she's as happy here as we are to have her.
I'll keep you posted. Thanks,
Maude

Whiskey now Buckey!

Things are going well.  Only one issue encountered to date.  I had to trim his nails after a couple of days.  He was crawling up my mom's legs and arms leaving claw marks.  Once the nails were cut they are getting along famously.

We made an appointment with Tom Harstad the end of the month for rabies shot and nail trimming.  Mom's day's are not dull.  He is a busy little guy and VERY spoiled!  He eats, drinks and poops a lot!  He has a cat tree and many, many toy's!  So all in all things are going great!

Here's a photo for you!

Maya, Ursula and Ellie!

Maya
Ursula & Ellie
My husband and I adopted these three wonderful animals from the Humane Society and we couldn't be happier.  All three have settled in with the other dogs and cats and are now part of our family.  As a volunteer, the first animal I met was Ursula, a shy kitty who was waiting to be adopted and I fell in love with her.  Well she was, but then two years later she was back at the shelter.  I couldn't stand to see her there again so scooped her up and brought her home and the rest is history!  Maya came in as a lone puppy and on July 2011 she became another member of our family.  As if that wasn't enough, we adopted another puppy in May of this year named Ellie.  We have a very busy household now with our three dogs and various cats and don't regret having any of them.  All are rescue animals and they make best family additions, they are loving and grateful of having a forever home.  Mind you once in a while I have to remind them, but worth every minute.  If you're looking for a new pet, please consider adopting from a shelter - you won't regret it!

Rio & Pixie!

Rio and Pixie are doing fine. Had a vet checkup last Friday with a dose of dewormer and 2nd booster of distemper vaccination. Vet a little concerned with Pixie's weight and tummy but will keep an eye on her. She's been fine and active. They are quite the pair Our dog is starting to play with them now They sleep with us in bed and cuddle together. I've attached a couple pics for you. Will keep in touch. Hegge Family

Nina - adopted 9/10/10

Hello!

My name is Kathryn Olson and I adopted a beautiful little girl from your shelter three years ago. I just wanted to let you know that Nina is the most gorgeous, precious dog. She is healthy and the joy of our lives.

Please see photos attached, and thank you for all the good work you do.

Jaspen Update!

I hope you don't think I'm a pest with these, but I just love her so much and she is such a wonderful dog that I just like to share her adventures. The end of September, we went on a week long camping trip up to the U.P. At first I questioned if it was a good idea, but she enjoyed every minute of it. She is game for anything, and so well-behaved. She was great company. Jaspen is a "kid magnet" and got more than enough attention wherever we went. I met one little girl on the beach on Lake Huron and the next day we were in town and I heard "It's Jaspen!" The little girl emerged from the crowd and gave her a hug. We camped every night and she did great in the camper, even tho it is small. The funniest thing was when we were at a state park and I was looking at a Wolf display. I was reading about the wolf and she sat down and stared at the guy next to us and barked. I wondered why, till I saw he was eating an ice cream cone. She LOVES ice cream and thought he should share. We both got a laugh out of it, but she was serious so after our walk we shared a cone. She loves to "creep" on the other campers and watches then out the window of the camper every morning. Jaspen has had a tug of war going on inside her for awhile now. Water and what it's all about. Me and the vet think she is Lab crossed with hound (perhaps Plott) and the Lab in her wants to go into the water, but the hound - not so much. She likes to wade, but hates waves. She just doesn't understand them and I think she might think in some way they are chasing her! When she was sitting on my lap by Lake Michigan, I couldn’t help wondering what was going through her mind. She has waded in 3 of the Great Lakes and we're going for all 5! With her (lengthy) nose, she explores! I cannot imagine all the smells she found along Lake Michigan in the rocks. Last week we went up to our favorite campground up at Clam Lake. We were the only ones there so the dogs ran free to swim and explore while I fished. The first day Jaspen went into the river a little but wasn't sure about it. We had so much fun, we went back the next day. While I fished they explored nearby. Jaspen would go up on the bank and sniff in the woods, then you would here her coming - on a thundering run - and she would run right into the river and splash around. She waded half way out into it and thought she was pretty brave to climb up on a rock and jump in. She is just like a little kid. She is growing so fast. The last time we were at the vets, she weighed 60 pounds and she had just turned 6 months old. She is my best friend and goes everywhere with me. She has so much patience waiting in the truck and doesn't destroy it while I’m shopping. She is so much company and so funny to have around. Once again I thank you for this wonderful little dog. Lynn

Alvin!

Alvin is adjusting quite nicely in his new home!

Ole!

HSBC Photo
He is a riot!!!!  What a clown and his eye is healing up great - kinda waiting for the stitches to come out before doing the photo shoots and will definitely send you some.  He was very nervous the first night but is adapting really well now ( in fact quite the bed hog) except for he's being a momma's boy but we're working on that (seeing some separation anxiety) but when I'm not here Les is.  And he love's to go for rides.
Will send pics soon.
Thanks for such a loving dog!

Heckel & Jeckel!

The boys are doing GREAT! All of the effort on your behalf, patience not to bring them HOME too soon and the preparation on this end for their arrival/first several days here, paid off BIG TIME for the boys. Heckel comes up on my chest, pushes his face into my goatee and sleeps laying under my chin (when Jeckel leaves him alone for two minutes). I'm sort of pressed for time this morning so I've got to get going. Here is a photo I shot last Saturday night.

Thanks again for all your hard work & dedication!

Sincerely,

Ben

Lacy now Hilda!

We love Lacy, but we have renamed her Hilda, a nice German name.  She is so sweet.  She is getting along well with our dog Chase and is VERY interested in our goat!  She loves to take walks down to visit her.  We are keeping her on a leash when we walk her outside so she learns our area and her name.  Not sure how long before we will be able to let her run free with us on walks.  We watched the DVD from you and just got another one from the library to learn more about training her, and got her some new toys today too.  She really like our grandson and is concerned if he squeals.  Seems to want to make sure he is okay..

Thanks and blessings,
Brenda
