Adam now Koda!
He is great, we rename him KODA. He is awesome, we are so lucky to
have him. It was great timing to get him being the whole family has
been with him. He has meet some of our other family members pets and he
seems to have settled right in with playing and learning from an older
dogs. He seems so comfortable and loves all his new toys and chew
bones. We spend a lot of time outside with him and I think he would like
it if we just lived outside. We will fersure post photos after the New
Year,
Jody & Brad
Emmett & Jasper!
Emmett
and Jasper are doing well and adjusting quickly to their new
surroundings. They are so sweet! Lily loves them and has done a great
job of caring for them. She scoops their litter box 4 times a day.
They have claimed our guest bedroom because it is connected to the
family room so they can keep an eye on everyone and still sleep on the
bed in the sun. I have included a photo from Christmas when they
arrived and another from a few minutes ago. We are so happy to have
them as a part of our family!
Thanks!
Karen Meck
Aubrey!
We are delighted with Aubrey and she seems to be delighted with
us. She is getting along fairly well with our 3 smaller dogs but there
will always be a few issues between them. We have learned her
mannerisms and when she needs to go out and when she doesn't. She still
has an occassional accident in the house but she is getting much
better.
As advertised, she is playful and loving and loves to talk. We
take long walks in the woods each day and she enjoys this time outside.
Thanks again for taking such good care of her at your facility.
She really is a wonderful dog and we feel fortunate to call her our
own. We love Aubrey very much!
Happy New Year and good luck with your adoptions. You do great work.

Sawyer!
Sawyer
is doing great. He and our pit Riley get along so well; not a single
tiff between the two of them. He’s been an awesome boy and we don’t
have to kennel him at all. He sleeps inside at night and stays in the
breezeway with a dog door to the fenced in yard during the day. I’ve
been working on his manners and obedience, and while there’s more work
to do, he’s come a long way in only 1 week. Our cat is finally starting
to check him out (she wanted nothing to do with him until yesterday).
Sawyer loves to try to steal socks and our son’s stuffed animals. He
tries to be very discrete about it, but he gets busted every time!
Sawyer is definitely a part of our family, and we’re very happy to have him. He’s such a nice mellow boy.

Dexter!
It's been quite a while, but I wanted to keep you updated on my Dexter (your Buster) that I adopted in the spring.
Dexter
has become quite the permanent fixture in our home and hearts. He and
Roxy the boxer have become the best of friends and. We feel he has
completely settled into the household and we are continuing to advance
on his obedience training. Walks down to the barn off leash and in a
respectful heel position are common in the evenings. He has a flying
squirrel toy that we play catch with every day. It's really quite scary
how fast he learned how to "watch" the thrower, the sit/stay & wait
for the throw/retrieve and how soft his mouth still is carrying it.
Dexter begs to be vacuumed (I am totally serious) with the hand
attachment and loves the blow dryer in the morning. He actually gets a
little pesty about it now....
It's
been an adjustment to have young, energetic dogs in the house again,
but I think we've stepped up and they've settled down for a very nice
meet in the middle. I know these two will never replace our other
dogs, nor did we have that expectation, but they both are in their
forever homes with us. Dexter, with all his energy and persistence, is
well-loved and I again want to thank you for taking him in, approving
our application and adopting him to us. I've attached some pictures for
you guys to enjoy.
Happy Holidays!

Bear the Sequel!
Laurie
Bear!
Hi, the ride home he was soooo good. He is really a good dog. Gets along great with my other animals. Is a little shy but fits right in. We went for a walk today and now he is sleeping next to my on the couch while I write this. I love him so already. He is so good. Doesn't he bark? Never heard anything out of him yet. He is such a lover, I can't imagine anyone not wanting him.

Nora!
She is a bundle of energy!!! She also is a very loving dog. She has
had a few accidents in the house , but she gets better every day. Nick
still growls at her and at first she would hide behind us, but just this
morning Nick was on the bed and she came in and went up to him and he
growls hissed and swatted, no claws, then she tore around the room and
went back to him and he did the same, this went on for a few minutes. I
don't know if she thought he was playing with her or if she finally
realized that his growls, hisses and swats are nothing that can hurt
her. Oh, Pete's sister is a pet groomer in the city , so I had a foot
appt on Wed and we took her for her first professional bath and nail
clipping, Sue also gave her a scarf!!
Thanks for asking about her.
Diane

Hank & Izzy
Hank is doing wonderfully! And our little guy we got from you this
past New Year's weekend, Izzy(Gizmo) is doing great too!
We are all fine. The boys (Hank and Izzy) are at the dog park with George
right now. Izzy, all 7 1/2 lbs of him, runs with the big dogs when he is
there and even with his blindness Hank has a blast there too.

Bonnie now Bella!
We actually renamed Bonnie because Travis and his mom didn't really
like the name (I don't know why). But her new name is Bella and she
comes to it very well. She's understanding the difference between going
potty outside and making a mistake inside. Got her stitches out the
other day and she healed up wonderfully. I took her to my friends house
over in Spooner right after and she slept the whole way there and back. I
have also started leash training with her, and it only took a couple of
tugs on the leash to get her used to it, (or when she would just stop).
She also likes to walk under our feet when we play with her outside or
when we're walking around.
But we are very happy with her and Gus is always playful with her :).
I'll make sure to take some pictures soon and email them to you.
I'll keep in touch.
Clyde!
Clyde, now Rhodey, is doing really good.
He is already growing and full of energy. He is getting more used to his
kennel and going to the bathroom outside. We went to the vet yesterday
and he does still have worms, but we are treating that and hopefully
they will go away this time. Other than that, he is a healthy boy. Here
is a pic of him playing with his new favorite toy, the hedgehog.

Roc!
Roc is a wonderful addition to our family and we couldn't be
happier. He is spoiled and spoils us with love. He sleeps and guards his
boy all night with diligence an let's everyone know he's on the job
with any approaching sound;), we've learned to announce ourselves before
checking on them before we go to bed. We're working through puppy
biting but he learns quickly. He's fetching the ball now an loves to
play tug a war.
He moved his blanket to the middle of the living room so he can be the center of attention, and he usually is.
He's a blast and living large! Thanks for letting us adopt him!

Sam our Man!
Just giving you the update that we LOVE LOVE LOVE Sam! He is so sweet and a good boy! He must have been loved a lot somewhere (I know you all cared wonderfully for him) because it is like he has always been in our home. He rode fine home, and has made himself right at home. Of course this could be the honeymoon phase, but we will keep you posted. Thank you again!

Haddie!
Hi!
Megan (now named Haddie) is doing wonderful. Haddie is a true water dog! She could fetch the ball in the lake for hours if we let her! Towards the end of the summer she has even worked up the courage to run and jump off the dock after the ball! Lucky for her we live right next to a few lakes so its just a short walk for her. She has really come a long way, though she is still timid in many situations. She has a very humorous personality and is always keeping us laughing. She has also learned sit, shake, hi five (her favorite) and lay down. She still needs to work on walking on the leash but I think we will make more strides this winter where there is no lake calling her name the entire walk! Thanks for everything you guys did for her before she came home with us, she has been the perfect addition to our family and really adds so much to our lives. Here are a couple pictures!
Thanks again!

Tui aka Chloe!
I am unable to send pictures over
the internet so unfortunately, you won't receive pictures of the gorgeous and
delightful Chloe (now Tui).
She is very happy here and we're
daffy with joy having her here. We're learning her likes (cat dancer, paws
down the favorite toy) and dislikes (no paper Chinese yo-yo's for her even
though that is our other cat's favorite). I can hardly believe she
hasn't been here for years. The sounds of her pounding up and
down the hallway are so familiar now. She loves exploring every nook and
cranny of the house. She is beautiful, alert, intelligent, loving,
stable.
Our only difficulty is integrating
our 10 year old female cat and Tui. Tui had exactly zero problems with the
dogs. But Pipit cat is not accepting Tui's presence yet. We have Tui
in a "quiet room" and Pipit is often closed in another room so each perdioically
has the run the of house without the other present. We have kitty
pheromones running in both cats' rooms. They interact two or
three times a day (sometimes unintentionally when one escapes into the house
before the other is put in her room). The intentional times, we are armed
with toys so they play side by side with separate toys. We'll see a bit of
progress in the acceptance by the older cat but that seems always to
be followed by a large step backward with hissing, swiping paws, and even
chasing. Have you any advice (beyond patience) for helping the two
get along, at least as far as reaching detente?
Thanks for the lovely work you
do.
Peace, Carol

Emmy!
Emmy is wonderful! She is getting along well with our
cats and loves the neighbor kids. She is starting dog training on Oct
4th for 8 weeks in hopes to resolve her aggression towards other dogs,
although she is getting much better with that. She has learned how to
fetch and is starting to play with a Frisbee. She is absolutely
wonderful addition to our family and we couldn't be happier! I'll send
pictures soon.
We did sign up for the 30 days + 15 extra health insurance for her. Thank you for making that available for us.
Take care ~ Molly

Sierra formerly Liv!
Cali!
Cali is doing fine, adjusting to the other cats & much smarter than the other two!
Eating very good, full of energy, very active & very loving......she is just a sweethearts. Sits on top of the tree stand most of the time.
When I picked her up the first thing she did was jump on my back. Accepted me right away!
Richard
Ping & Pong!
They are very spoiled and follow us around. They start purring the
minute you start petting them. They have moved in and took over and love
them to pieces! The dogs like them too and hey like the dogs. Rich
calls them Fred and Barnie instead of ping and pong because he couldn't
keep which one was which. They come as soon as we call them and their
favorite thing to do is is in the bay window and watch the birds in the
feeder. Barnie is still a little shy but Fred wants to be in all the
action.
All is well!
Jackie
Iris
You're
right -- it has been exactly a week ago today that I drove home with
Iris. She is such a sweet dog. We love her already. She gets along with
everyone, including our cat and little norwich terrier Louie. Our
youngest daughter Molly loves taking her for a walk and feeding her.
We
are slowly teaching her that being indoors is not a bad thing. She is
very apprehensive about coming inside and would prefer to be outside all
the time. We have to put her on a lead to bring her inside. She is
scared of city living -- noises outside our fenced in back yard, cars
and even walking on the sidewalk. All these things are new to her but
she's coming along and slowly making strides.
She
does not know how to go up and down a large number of stairs. We're
working on that, too. We all sleep upstairs and she's been sleeping on
the main floor with Louie. She has the couch and Louie sleeps underneath
it. It all works out but I plan on teaching her the stairs in a couple
of weeks. I'll let her get used to the household first before we really
tackle the steps.
Lucas
was right, she is a great dog. We're thrilled that we found her. Thank
you for everything you did for her while she was with you all. Kathleen
Duncan
Duncan is doing very well. He is still pretty timid around new people
and our 3 cats, but loves to run in the big backyard. He has been going
to Branton's baseball games with us and has done quite well there. We
will be starting to work with him on training this week. We wanted to
give him time to come out of his shell a bit before worrying
about teaching him commands but he quickly learned "outside". He loves
to chew up the beds he has had in his kennel (still trying to find a
true chew resistant one!) although he is not kept in the kennel often.
He uses the kennel as his security blanket at this point. He has been
sleeping in our room next to or even under the bed (not sure why on
under..) It will take him some time to be more comfortable and less
timid, but he is doing great. He has a fantastic demeanor and we love
having him!!
I do have one question. The medical records indicate you used frontline, but I thought I had been told that you were trying a new product? Would you be able to tell me what that product was?
Thank you for helping us find Duncan, we are thrilled!

Rusty aka Flynn O'Malley
I changed Rustys name to Flynn O'Malley...thought he should have an
Irish name :) He is doing amazing!! We love him so much! He fits into
the family perfectly and gets along great with his dog brother! Thank
you for checking in on us. You guys are awesome there, I was very
impressed :)
Thank you,

Harley aka Sadie!
Sadie aka Bailey!
Hello!
"Sadie"
is doing so well! However, we actually changed her name to Bailey. It
seems she's getting bigger and growing everyday. She is also one of
the sweetest dogs we have ever met. We can always count on her to give
us some love and we love taking care of her. She's adapted to her home
really well and hasn't even had one "potty" accident. We love that we
get to have her as part of our family now; she makes it all the
better. We have attached a picture of her snuggling like she loves to
do. Thanks so much for your organization!
Sincerely,
Karlye (and Cole)
Otis!
We just wanted to give you guys another update on Otis!! We could
never imagine our lives without him. He is such a good boy, he is so
loving, and loves to snuggle every chance he gets! His favorite things to
do is to play in the backyard with his favorite toys (especially his blue bone),
going for nice walks in the neighborhood including going to the dog park,
and going to the Lakewalk in our neighborhood on beautiful Lake
Superior to walk and people watch. Everyday someone will stop us
to pet him and comment on how cute he is!! He loves that his dad makes him
his special dinners a few times a week which includes steak, chicken, or lamb
chops with fresh veggies from an upscale grocery store, and he loves his
ice water in a wide glass (we really spoil him). He has slept in between
us since night #1, for being so little he is quite the bed hog!! He will
be getting a sister this weekend, we found her through the Midwest Pug Rescue
Minnesota Division. Thank you so much for all the work you do! We
just really love our Otis baby so much, we are so happy every single day with
him in our lives!!
Love,
Kristi and Don

Lexis now named Ruby!
Hello! I am writing to tell you how well Ruby is doing in her new home! She is quite funny, and, in spite of her rough start to life, quite curious and happy. She gets to see her litter mate, Isabella (now Maggie) almost every weekend, so she has her fill of puppy play time! Ruby gets along wonderfully with my other dog and does pretty well the cats too...even though she is very tempted by their fluffy tails! I just wanted to thank you for the chance for a great life that you give Ruby. I think of the time and efforts of the shelter folks that went into helping her become the dog she is today and want you to know that I will be ever grateful! I've attached a picture of Ruby with her litter mate, Maggie, a picture with Jaida (now Annie) who was adopted by my parents from HSBC this past Fall and a photo of the end result of Ruby's favorite past-time...taking all the toys out of the baskets around the house!
Know that Ruby is receiving all of the love that she deserves. Thanks for everything you do!

Isabella!
I have changed Isabella's name to Maggie and Maggie is doing very well. I didn't need to potty train her at all, she just did the same thing as all the other dogs were doing. Maggie has been very busy meeting lots of new friends. She is still pretty shy and I have to work to get her to come to me, walk on a leash and also easing into crate training but other than that she is a wonderful dog. If she is playing with her friends she will come bounding up to me and try to hog all of the attention otherwise it can be more of a challenge. I have attached two pictures of Maggie and I will send more later.
Thank you for the great job you guys do at HSBC.
Terry
Reggie!
Reggie, now Figaro, is doing great! He has adjusted so well and became part of the family almost immediately. He is really well behaved and all that jumpiness and over the top excitement at the shelter really was just a "symptom" of his surroundings. Once he got home, he was fine. He has met Lake Superior quite a few times already and loves the beach; too bad I never took my camera with. He is shedding quite a bit right now, so I do have a pic of him being groomed by my Dad and another of him watching me work in the garden. It did not take long for him to learn that he was NOT to step into the garden. What a smart boy! We are all really happy! Eleanora Port Wing WI
Prince!
Hello from Prince!
Prince has settled in really well with a few little bumps in the road. He has now turned into an ultra vocal, ultra snuggly big guy. He loves curling up with the top of his head in my cheek at night while he keeps a paw draped across my neck. He has the oddest sounding purr but I love it. He still loves his heights and has taken up residence on top of the dresser in our bedroom. I bought a large cat tower and put that in front of the window next to the dresser so he lays for hours watching out the window and is more than happy to tell you about everything he sees. Chewie a.k.a. Johnny sleeps on the bed too and you can often find the two of them snuggled up during the night. My husband renamed Prince. His new name is Notorious F.A.T. since he is so large. ... but he goes by Noto. He loves being rubbed up and having his chin scratched.
With each passing day he is turning into a better and better kitty. As soon as I come in the house from work he starts bellering for me to come rub him up and he won't be quiet until you do. He doesn't really wander around the house much...he has is favorite spot on the dresser and that's were he prefers to be. He has trained us to come to him : ) He loves his fleece blankets too.
He has a fantastic vet here in the cities since he doesn't really care for car rides. But WOW did he do great at the vet. Dr. Molly, his Vet, was so impressed with him...and he's even lost a little weight.
I can't thank you enough for everything you did for Noto. He is a great cat and makes me laugh and smile all the time. I never dreamed I would have a cat who can carry on conversations. Noto says to say hi to everyone and thank you. Chewie says hi too!
Always,

Boo!
I thought maybe it was time to tell you about Boo. She has settled into our home very nicely and has made it hers.
Every morning at 5:10 without fail she wakes me up wanting
her breakfast. Every morning! She keeps poking at me and meowing until I
finally give in and give her her canned food. She has gained some
weight since being here so now she only gets 1/3 of a can each day. I am
considering cutting that back.
She is a silly little girl. She likes to
follow me from room to room. Once we get to the new place she usually
turns right around and goes back to the living room. I guess she just
wants to make sure that I arrive safely.
She is very sweet. She loves to be on a lap, and usually comes when we ask her to come up.
I
found out one thing about her that is really funny. She loves to nap on
our bed during the day. I didn't realize that she also buries herself
under the blankets. The first time I changed the sheets with her here
she almost lost her mind. There was nothing on the bed! She kept making
these noises. Finally I was ready to remake the bed and I started with
the pillows. She was so desperate to get under covers that she went into
the pillow! I know now that I have to keep something on the bed for her
to hibernate in.
But, no, in case you were wondering she is not spoiled.
Thank you for bringing Boo into our lives. Even Ozzy thanks you (I think).

Sassy aka Beth!
I have nothing but good news to share with you about Beth (who is now renamed Sassy). Things are going even better than we hoped and she is fitting right in. She has a really sweet and calm personality and just loves to cuddle. Her older sister Tasha couldn't be happier and they have already bonded so well. Sassy was the perfect addition!
I have enclosed a few photos!
Hannah!
All is well with Hannah, new name Rainy, after our special family
vacation place on Rainy Lake. She is the sweetest puppy just like you
said and is adjusting to the new home life very well. I will try to
send photos of her with the kids when I can, still trying to find time
to get pictures from my camera to the computer for such fun.
Thanks for your inquiry.
Cheers,
Catherine
Dameon
Dameon (We call him Sir Reginald Barker or Regie) has settled in just
fine. He has 40 acres to run around on and makes great use of all of
it. :) He and Avi, our 9 month old daughter share toys. He is very
much a part of our family. We're still working on the house training
thing...he is getting really good, just has his accidents now and then.
The kitties are slowly adjusting to not ruling the roost
anymore. Three of the 4 are ok, the 4th one just thinks too highly of
herself.
I will send you a picture of him soon :)
Shea
I will send you a picture of him soon :)
Shea
Sadie - aka Harley
Harley/ Sadie is doing fine. I have started calling her Sadie and she is used to it now. She is smart and a good girl but she does have problems with separation anxiety. When I go to work she tries to dig out of her kennel outside. I try to take her with me whenever I get a chance she is a good rider. She is starting to go off my deck by herself most of the time. Only one accident in the house the first day I got her. She is a good loving sweet girl. She has so many changes in the last few months. I think she is doing fine when she realizes this is her final home. I think she might calm down some from the anxiety. She knows what sit, lay down and stay is. Here is a couple pics. Oh yes she would love to caught a rabbit, squirrel and birds. :) Sue
